See the Terrifying Moment When an Avalanche Hit Mount Everest Base Camp
This point of view video is full on and I’m sure glad the guy filming it is still alive. There is some language being used—plenty of ‘F’ words flying about—but given that this guy and others were just hit by a wall of snow and ice, you’ll have to excuse it.
The video captures the awful scene as a 7.9 magnitude earthquake occurred, sending an avalanche down upon the South Base Camp on Everest on Saturday.
The avalanche killed at least 18 people at the base camp and injured over 60.
Among the dead are three Americans, including Google executive Dan Fredinburg, 33, and Marisa Eve Girawong, a N.J. native, reports the New York Daily.
The man behind the camera is 23-year-old German climber Jost Kobusch, pictured below.

The massive earthquake that caused the avalanche has resulted in large devastation across the poor Himalayan nation of Nepal, killing over 3,000 people. A further 6,500 people have been injured, reports the BBC.
It’s the worst earthquake to hit Nepal in over 80 years.
There were strong aftershocks on Sunday in not only Nepal, but India and Bangladesh as well. Media also reported that there were further avalanches near Everest.
