3 Ways To Schedule Pinterest Pins
Right now there are three ways to schedule Pinterest pins: (I KNOW, you can bulk upload pins if you are a corporation, but I am talking regular pinners!)
1. In the native scheduler
The first way seems like it could be a simple way, pop open the Pinterest, go to create pin and… wait what? Why are there TWO ways to create a pin?

In my account I can Create Pin or Create Idea pin (sigh… there are currently no idea pins on Pinterest, that is a relic of failed experiment).
Both of these allow you create a pin, just with different fields you can use to fill out the info:

Create Idea Pin allows you to add tags to your pin directly in Pinterest… that doesn’t seem like a bad thing, but no one really knows if one is better than the other. (Also some accounts have options and some don’t, use what you have!)
Anyways, once you have your pins made, you can schedule them manually by choosing a date and then see them at the top of your profile page:

This to me is a pretty bad user experience, and I don’t generally spend much time doing it this way!
PROS TO THE NATIVE SCHEDULER
First off it is FREE so if you are on a tight budget, for sure it is a value!
You can schedule between 10-200 pins at a time depending on what your account allows (according to the info available on Pinterest business help right now… in practice it seems like regular accounts can post about 100 pins)
You can schedule ahead between 2-6 weeks according to the Pinterest business help (in practice it seems like most business accounts can schedule 6 weeks out at this time)
CONS TO THE NATIVE SCHEDULER
You can only post 24 times a day on the hour and half hours
You can’t schedule ahead for upcoming seasons without a whole lot spreadsheet work
2. Easy Pin Scheduler
There is a new tool on the market that does something I haven’t seen any other Pinterest scheduling product do, merge a scheduling tool with the native scheduler!
CHECK OUT EASY PIN SCHEDULER HERE!
Functionally it is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to see a schedule of your pins, click on calendar slots and schedule native pins more easily!

I have tried using it (I paid for my copy) and will be scheduling out my first pins this way going forward!
PROS TO THE EASY PIN SCHEDULER
It is cheap! $27 a year or $97 lifetime
The scheduling interface makes it MUCH easier to see what pins you have scheduled out and to balance pinning frequently with not looking like a spammer
Lastly, you are using the Pinterest native scheduler which some people thinks gives you a boost in rankings on Pinterest (I don’t but you do you boo!)

CONS TO THE EASY PIN SCHEDULER
The huge con to the Easy Pin Scheduler is the exact same con I have to the native scheduler… there is a limit of how many pins you can schedule and how long you can schedule them out for. This is not a flaw in Easy Pin, just the fact that it is an overlay on the regular pin scheduler that simply makes it much easier to use!
3. Tailwind or other Schedulers
I have used Tailwind for YEARS (I may have been their first customer… hahaha!)
There are partner approved schedulers (like Tailwind) and cheap, spammy schedulers that you don’t want to touch with a 10 foot pole if you value your Pinterest account!
From what I have seen over the years, these schedulers “store” your upcoming pins on their servers and then post them out when you want.
Pinterest has said multiple times over the years that they don’t look at scheduled pins any differently than pins scheduled in the native scheduler!

PROS TO TAILWIND
You can schedule out as far in advance as you want! I have pins already set to go for next year… set it and forget it
You can schedule as many pins as you want (I have over 1,000 pins scheduled on this account alone!) Tailwind doesn’t count your pins until they post them for you!
The stats you get on your pins from Tailwind are AMAZING and go back over the whole time you have had your Pinterest account (not just the 6 months or so Pinterest stats give you)
CONS OF TAILWIND
The type of Tailwind account I have is $300-ish a year (so about $25 a month)… much higher than free with the native scheduler or $27 A YEAR with Easy Pin Scheduler
I don’t consider this a con, but some people think that scheduling in the native scheduler makes your pins rank better (I don’t agree and have never had trouble scheduling my pins out)
So What IS The Best Way To Schedule Pinterest Pins?
I am not a “one way” kind of gal… I can hold two concurrent thoughts in my head at the same time so I do all three of these things!
First off, my first two pins on any new URL get posted directly to Pinterest on my two strongest accounts onto the boards that most directly match what the content is!
Now that I have Easy Pin Scheduler, I am scheduling out two more pins on the correct account for the coming week on different boards to get some added keywords and annotations connected to that pin!
Lastly I am using Tailwind to schedul out between 12-20 MORE original pins to that post over the next months on a weekly basis or when they will be seasonally appropriate.
You should use the method that matches what works best for you! If you have more time than money, use the native scheduler or Easy Pin Scheduler.
If you have the money to use a quality scheduler like Tailwind, then for sure I can’t recommend them more highly!
