Who Is Jesus Christ? Using the KJV of the Bible for Perspective.

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In a world of countless religious interpretations and traditions, sometimes it’s best to strip everything away and go directly to the source. Who is Jesus Christ—according to the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible alone?

Let’s look at what Scripture plainly says.

1. Jesus Is the Son of God

At His baptism, a voice from heaven declared:

“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 3:17

When Jesus asked His disciples who they believed He was, Peter replied:

“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:16

2. Jesus Is the Word Made Flesh

John’s Gospel begins with a profound truth:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1

Then we’re told:

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”
John 1:14

Jesus is not merely a messenger; He is God in human form.

3. Jesus Is the Promised Messiah

The Samaritan woman at the well spoke of the coming Messiah:

“I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ.”
John 4:25

Jesus plainly told her:

“I that speak unto thee am he.”
John 4:26

4. Jesus Is the Savior of the World

His mission was clear:

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Luke 19:10

And the apostles affirmed:

“The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.”
1 John 4:14

5. Jesus Is the Lamb of God

John the Baptist saw Him and said:

“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
John 1:29

His death was not random—it was sacrificial.

6. Jesus Is King of Kings and Lord of Lords

When Jesus returns, He comes in power:

“He is Lord of lords, and King of kings…”
Revelation 17:14

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation 19:16

7. Jesus Is the Judge of All

Jesus will judge the world:

“He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained.”
Acts 17:31

And Paul reminds us:

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 5:10

8. Jesus Died, Was Buried, and Rose Again

The foundation of the gospel is this:

“Christ died for our sins… he was buried, and… he rose again the third day.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4

He conquered death so that we might live.

9. Jesus Is the Only Way to the Father

He made it crystal clear:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 14:6

There is no other path.

10. Jesus Is Coming Again

After His ascension, the angels declared:

“This same Jesus… shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:11

And John wrote:

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him…”
Revelation 1:7

What Are the Teachings of Jesus Christ?

The teachings of Jesus are best summarized through His own words in the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Here’s a clear breakdown of His core teachings, straight from the KJV:

🔹 1. Love God Completely

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”
— Matthew 22:37
(Quoting Deuteronomy 6:5)

This is the greatest commandment, according to Jesus.

🔹 2. Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
— Matthew 22:39

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
— John 15:12

🔹 3. Repent and Believe the Gospel

“Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
— Matthew 4:17

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
— Mark 1:15

🔹 4. Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”
— Matthew 7:12
(The Golden Rule)

🔹 5. Forgive Others

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
— Matthew 6:14–15

🔹 6. Be Humble, Not Hypocritical

“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”
— Matthew 23:12

“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them…”
— Matthew 6:1

🔹 7. Do Not Judge Hypocritically

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged…”
— Matthew 7:1–2

Jesus didn’t say never to judge—He said to judge righteously and not hypocritically (see John 7:24).

🔹 8. Seek First the Kingdom of God

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
— Matthew 6:33

🔹 9. Take Up Your Cross and Follow Him

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
— Matthew 16:24

🔹 10. You Must Be Born Again

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:3

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
— John 3:6

🔹 11. Keep His Commandments

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
— John 14:15

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me…”
— John 14:21

🔹 12. Be Ready for His Return

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
— Matthew 24:42

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
— Matthew 24:44

So, in combining all of this information, what is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

In a world full of noise, confusion, and opinions, there is a message that remains unchanged, unshaken, and full of eternal power—the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

🔹 The Gospel Is Good News

The word “gospel” means “good news,” and that’s exactly what it is—the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”
Romans 1:16

This is not man’s invention. It is God’s plan to redeem fallen humanity. And the message is simple, yet powerful.

🔹 Christ Died for Our Sins

At the heart of the gospel is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried,
and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4

This is the foundation. Christ died not as a martyr, not as a victim—but as the Lamb of God, willingly offering Himself for the sins of the world.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

🔹 We Are All in Need of Salvation

Why did Jesus have to die? Because all have sinned.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

And what is the result of sin?

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

We all stand guilty before a holy God, but the gospel brings hope. Jesus paid our debt, took our punishment, and now offers the free gift of eternal life.

🔹 Salvation Is Through Faith, Not Works

The gospel is not about what we can do to earn God’s favor. It’s about what Jesus already did.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8–9

We are saved not by religion, not by church membership, not by good deeds—but by trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

🔹 You Must Be Born Again

Jesus made it clear—salvation is not about being good; it’s about being born again.

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3

To be born again is to believe in Jesus Christ, be baptized, repent of your sins, and to receive new life through the Holy Spirit.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9

🔹 The Gospel Demands a Response

The gospel is not just a story to be admired—it’s a truth to be believed and a call to be answered.

“Repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Mark 1:15

To repent is to turn from sin. To believe is to trust in Christ alone. The promise?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13

🔹 A New Life in Christ

The moment you believe, everything changes.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17

You are forgiven. You are adopted into the family of God. You have eternal life.

🔹 Jesus Is Coming Again

The gospel doesn’t end with the resurrection. Jesus is coming back!

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world… and then shall the end come.”
Matthew 24:14

Are you ready?

“Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
Matthew 24:44

🕊️ But Works Do Matter—They Prove Faith

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
James 2:17

“Shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
James 2:18

Real saving faith produces real change. Not perfection, but transformation. True faith in Jesus results in a life of obedience, love, and service—not to earn heaven, but because we are headed there.

⚖️ There Will Be a Judgment of Works

Even though we are saved by faith, the Bible teaches that our works will be judged. There are two key judgments mentioned in Scripture:

🔥 Judgment Seat of Christ (For Believers)

This is for those who are already saved.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
2 Corinthians 5:10

“If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved…”
1 Corinthians 3:14–15

This judgment isn’t about salvation—it’s about rewards. Every believer’s life will be tested. What we did with our time, money, influence, and calling will either be rewarded—or burned up as wasted.

⚖️ Great White Throne Judgment (For the Unsaved)

“And I saw a great white throne… and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Revelation 20:11–12

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Revelation 20:15

This judgment is not for believers, but for those who rejected Christ. They are judged according to their works, but since none are righteous on their own (Romans 3:10), their works condemn them.

🏁 Summary – KJV Truth on Works & Judgment

  • We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9)
  • 🧭 But true faith results in good works (James 2:17–18)
  • 🏆 Believers will be judged for reward, not salvation (2 Corinthians 5:10)
  • ⚖️ Unbelievers will be judged by their works and condemned (Revelation 20)

Jesus paid it all. You can’t earn heaven—but once you’re saved, you’re called to live for Him.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power to save, the power to transform, and the power to give eternal hope. It’s not bound by denomination, tradition, or culture. It’s the timeless message of God’s love, written in His Word and fulfilled in His Son.

Is this the Jesus Christ that you know? His teachings are so simple, yet all-encompassing. Through my baptism, embracing His teachings, and turning my life over to Him, I can say that I have indeed been born again. My life is different—enhanced—and it has led to an entirely new version of myself. Can you relate?

So, the question now is not “Who is Jesus Christ?” It has become something deeper, in asking…

: “Do YOU Know Him?”
