HORROR IN SYRIA – MIRA THABAT: Muslim Fighters Kidnap, Rape, Forcibly Convert, Sexually Enslave Young Female Victims

The horrors of Islamic war rage in Syria.

A young Alawite girl, Mira, was kidnapped and married to an Afghan jihadi fighter. Her father was threatened with death if he did not keep quiet and
the government forces protected the Afghan man who raped the Alawite girl.

The government forces also fabricated a false story to justify this marriage and that the girl had run away with this Afghan man.

The young woman Mira Jalal Thabat (20 years old), the only child of her parents from the village of Al-Makhtabiyah in Talkalakh, went missing inside the Teacher Training Institute in the Al-Dablan neighborhood of Homs.

Messages from Mira’s family indicate that the institute’s director of affairs contacted Mira’s mother yesterday and insisted that she come to the institute to take her exam so she wouldn’t be expelled.

She went on the morning of April 27, 2025, accompanied by her father, who waited for her outside. However, she never came out and has since disappeared. Today, she has reportedly become the wife of one of the “Umayyad ISIS” members.

This happened after we exposed the case and the issue of kidnapping and enslavement — and in response, they married her off to one of their members.

This is yet another case — among dozens, if not hundreds — of abduction and enslavement carried out by the so-called “Umayyad ISIS” members, who continue to deny these crimes.

n Syria, we are witnessing a systematic campaign of kidnapping young Alawite, Christian, and Druze women under the guise of “captives” (sabaya).
Extremist interpretations of Islamic edicts (fatwas) are being weaponized to legitimize the rape and trafficking of non-Muslim women. These women are sold into sexual slavery by jihadist groups, enduring unspeakable brutality.
The Case of Mira Jalal Thabat:
Mira, a 23-year-old woman from Al-Mukhtabiya village (Tal Kalakh region, Homs), was abducted on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from the Teachers’ Preparatory College in Homs.
Her ordeal began after she entered the college to take an exam, following a call from her professor, Ms. Suha Al-Akkari.
Her father personally escorted her to the college gates and waited outside, but she never emerged.
Investigations confirm her abduction occurred inside the college, implicating faculty and students in a coordinated plot.

Key Details:

– The abduction was orchestrated via collusion with a female staff member at the college.
– Her father remained outside the premises but lost contact with her for hours.
– Authorities later claimed she “voluntarily” left, but evidence confirms she was forcibly taken.

Aftermath:
– Mira’s father was arrested yesterday, and the family faces escalating pressure to silence the truth.
– Mira has now been paraded in a niqab as part of a fabricated narrative, coerced by jihadist security forces to claim this was a “consensual marriage.”
– She has been forcibly “married” to extremist jihadist elements in Idlib (a hub for radical groups), where she is subjected to sexual enslavement (sabaya) under heavy armed guard.
– A staged “return” was filmed to legitimize her exploitation, after which she was sent back to her captors to endure further abuse.
This is not an isolated case.
Thousands of women from minority communities are being kidnapped, raped, and degraded under the cloak of religious sanction and state complicity.
These atrocities defy humanity itself.

The Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria and the Diaspora submits this letter to condemn the recurring violations committed by unlawful armed factions against Alawite women in the Syrian coastal regions. These violations include systematic abductions taking place in educational institutions and public facilities in broad daylight. Families of the victims are then coerced into providing fabricated accounts intended to exonerate the perpetrators. This is often done with the direct complicity of relevant security agencies, foremost among them the so-called “General Security.”

In cooperation with multiple field sources, the Council has observed a marked escalation in such incidents over recent months. According to reports by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, nearly 60 cases of abduction have been recorded. Among the most prominent of these crimes is the case of Mira Jalal Thabet, a 20-year-old woman from the town of Al-Mahtabiya in the Talkalakh area of Homs Governorate. She was abducted on April 28, 2025, from within an educational institution by a group affiliated with an extremist organization. There is evidence suggesting the involvement of individuals within the institution in this crime.

When the victim’s father approached the “General Security” to file a complaint, he was detained without any legal basis. After several days of forced detention, Mira was returned to her family, having been compelled to wear a blue niqab. It was later revealed that she had been forcibly married to her captor, a commander within the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.” Her return was accompanied by members of the “General Security,” raising serious concerns about the direct involvement of these agencies and confirming a case of official complicity.

These actions constitute a blatant violation of all international human rights instruments, including UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on the protection of women in armed conflict. Furthermore, these crimes reflect the ongoing failure of the de facto authorities to ensure security and protection for civilians, particularly Alawite women and girls, who are systematically targeted for abduction and sexual enslavement.

Accordingly, the Supreme Alawite Islamic Council in Syria and the Diaspora demands the following:
1. Immediate international action to ensure the safety and security of civilians in the Syrian coastal region, particularly members of the Alawite community who are clearly being targeted.
2. The implementation of effective mechanisms for accountability and prosecution of the perpetrators of these crimes, as well as those complicit with them, including members of the security services.
3. The establishment of international mechanisms to protect women from abduction and sexual enslavement, and to guarantee their freedom and human dignity.
4. The inclusion of the Syrian coastal region in an international protection framework, including the adoption of expanded decentralization based on the participation of local populations in security and protection mechanisms.
5. The withdrawal of all foreign fighters from Syria in general, and from the coastal region in particular, due to the direct threat they pose to local, national, and regional security.

We direct this urgent appeal to the international community, calling for the assumption of moral and legal responsibility, and the immediate adoption of measures to protect civilians in Syria and to put an end to the ongoing crimes against women.
