Trump may be distancing himself from Netanyahu to reassure China he is not on a war stance during negotiations on tariffs. Trump had been implying a threat against China with threats of war against Iran which would have disrupted China’s oil imports from Iran and the region. Trump also threatened sanctions on Iran and anyone trading with Iran. That was a direct afront to China who depends on Iranian oil. It was looking like war against Iran, along with all the hostile policies and tariffs toward China were indicative of the US going to war against China.
Perhaps Trump has changed his mind and backed off. However, this may be a temporary pivot designed to bolster confidence in American equity markets and keep the people in the dark until the last fateful moment before the shooting starts. It may also be designed to put Netanyahu in his place so that he agrees to whatever peace plan or two state solution Trump dictates. I hope Trump uses this pivot as an opportunity to condemn Israeli war crimes against Palestinians and demand that the crimes stop as a condition for any further assistance. Note, I am against any two state solution, as that land belongs to Israel. But, God instructed Israel to be kind to the foreigners in their land since they too were foreigners in Egypt.
