The Show is About to Begin – The Two Witnesses; Are they Here?
Oh my…Do I have some information to share with you today. The end-times are unfolding quickly, and the final events are about to be exposed: The Two Witnesses, the Antichrist, and the signing of the 7-year peace deal in Israel.
I have listed these three events because they are “tangible” and things that you and I will know for a surety when they happen that we are living in the final 7-year period of time upon the earth. Let’ jump into it.
Who Are the Two Witnesses that are spoken of in the Bible?
The two witnesses in Revelation 11 have been the subject of much curiosity. While the Bible does not explicitly name them, several theories suggest their possible identities. Here are the most commonly held views:
1. Moses and Elijah (Most Popular View)
Many believe the two witnesses could be Moses and Elijah because:
- They performed miracles similar to those in Revelation 11:6:
- Elijah stopped the rain (1 Kings 17:1).
- Moses turned water into blood and brought plagues (Exodus 7-11).
- They both appeared with Jesus during the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:3).
- Jewish tradition expects Elijah’s return before the “Day of the Lord” (Malachi 4:5-6).
Objection: Moses died once (Deuteronomy 34:5-7), while Hebrews 9:27 says humans die once—so some argue he cannot return bodily.
2. Elijah and Enoch (The “Never Died” Theory)
- Both Elijah and Enoch never died but were taken directly to heaven:
- Enoch: “God took him” (Genesis 5:24).
- Elijah: Taken up in a fiery chariot (2 Kings 2:11).
- Hebrews 9:27 says it is appointed for men to die once. Some argue they must return to fulfill this.
Objection: This assumes that all must die once—yet some will be raptured without dying (1 Thessalonians 4:17).
3. Two Future, Unknown Prophets
- Some believe the two witnesses will be new, divinely appointed individuals raised up in the last days.
- This avoids speculation about resurrecting biblical figures.
Objection: The similarities between the witnesses’ miracles and those of Moses and Elijah seem intentional, suggesting a connection to past prophets.
Final Thoughts – Who will the Two Witnesses Be?
- Elijah is the strongest candidate due to Malachi 4:5.
- Moses and Elijah fit well with biblical precedent.
- Enoch and Elijah make sense if avoiding prior death is a requirement.
- Two new prophets could also be possible.
While their identities are uncertain, their mission is clear.
Their Purpose
The two witnesses serve as God’s last warning to the world before the final judgments. They will testify of Christ, confront the Antichrist’s rule, and call people to repentance. They will testify powerfully before the Antichrist rises to full power.
They Will Prophesy for 1,260 Days (3.5 Years)
- Revelation 11:3 says they will “prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”
- Sackcloth symbolizes mourning and repentance, indicating that their message will call people to turn back to God.
- Their ministry will likely take place in Jerusalem, where they will testify of Jesus Christ.
They Will Have Power to Perform Miracles
- Revelation 11:6 states they will have power similar to Old Testament prophets:
- Shut the heavens so it does not rain (like Elijah in 1 Kings 17:1).
- Turn water into blood (like Moses in Exodus 7:20).
- Strike the earth with plagues as often as they want.
They Will Be Hated by the World
- Their message of repentance will not be well received.
- Revelation 11:7-10 says the beast (Antichrist) will eventually kill them.
- Their bodies will lie in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days while the world celebrates their death.
They Will Be Resurrected and Taken to Heaven
- After three and a half days, God will resurrect them in front of everyone (Revelation 11:11).
- They will then be taken up into heaven in a cloud, much like Jesus at His ascension (Revelation 11:12).
- A great earthquake will follow, killing thousands and striking fear into those who witness it (Revelation 11:13).
Understanding these facts, it is clear to see that God has a desire to give people upon the earth a final chance to be taught of Jesus Christ. It’s likely that He will send them to Jerusalem to preach to the Jewish people. Many of these people believe that Jesus Christ has not come to the earth yet as prophesied. They are righteous, good people, who have missed Jesus’ birth and ministry while upon the earth.
So, we can look for the two witnesses to appear in Jerusalem very soon. Since they will testify before the antichrist rises to full power, this places their arrival in the first part of the 7-year Tribulation Period. They will preach for a period of 3.5 years. We also know that the Antichrist will rise to full power in 3.5 years after he has been introduced to the world stage.
In both of these upcoming events, those who are watching will KNOW who all of these people are.
The antichrist will come as a world leader, loved by many. He will bring peace to the world, and will work “miracles.” He will restore peace in Israel, allowing the temple to be built upon the Temple Mount. After 3.5 years, he will go into the new temple and declare who he really is. This is called the “Abomination of Desolation.”
Biblical References to the Abomination of Desolation
- Daniel’s Prophecy
- Daniel 9:27 – “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate…”
- This refers to a future event where the Antichrist will break a covenant and defile the Jewish temple.
- Jesus’ Warning
- Matthew 24:15-16 – “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation’, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”
- Jesus confirms that this is a future event, warning that it will signal great tribulation.
- Paul’s Description of the Antichrist
- 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 – “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”
- This means the Antichrist will enter the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem and declare himself to be God.
- Revelation’s Account
- Revelation 13:14-15 describes how the False Prophet will cause people to worship the Antichrist, setting up an image of the beast that people must worship—or be killed.
What Happens After the Abomination of Desolation?
- The Great Tribulation (final 3.5 years of the 7-year period) will begin (Matthew 24:21).
- God will pour out His “Bowls of Wrath” upon the wicked who are on the earth. (Revelation 16).
- The Antichrist will demand worship, persecute believers, and enforce the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:16-17).
- This will trigger divine judgments leading to Christ’s Second Coming (Revelation 19:11-21).
With all of these details written above, it is very likely that you will see all three of these events happen simultaneously. The 7-year peace agreement will be signed between Israel and other countries. (Pay close attention here, for one of the signers will be the antichrist). The antichrist will come onto the world stage. He will be seen as a great leader and bring peace. The two witnesses in Jerusalem, beginning their 3.5-year mission of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Again, when this starts, it will begin the 7 years before Jesus Christ comes back to the earth, and end earth life as we know it.
I encourage all of you to “Be the Best that You Can Be.” Dedicate and give your life to Jesus Christ. Continue to learn of Him. By doing so, you will find PEACE, right now, and know that He will watch over you during this exciting time.
What an awesome time to be alive. The show is about to begin, and you have the best seat in the house. Be watchful, and have faith.
