An extant descendant of Aegyptopithecus
is Mandrill, the mandrill (Fig 1), also from Africa, famous for its sexual dimorphism, a trait also appearing in Aegyptopithecus (Fig 2).

Parapithecus grangeri
(Schlosser 1910, Simons 1986, Simons 2001, Eocene-Oligocene 35mya) nesst with Alouatta, the howler monkey, in the LRT. A post-orbital plate and three molars are present. Lower incisors are absent. Note the perforated lateral jugal here and in Aloutta, convergent with Indri.
Aegyptopithecus zeuxis
(Simons 1965, 1967, 1987; YPM VP 024189; Oligocene, 33 mya) was preceded by Smilodectes and the New World monkeys. It nests at the base of the Old World monkeys, like Macaca, more specifically at the base of the tarsiers, like Tarsius.
Mandrill sphinx
(Linneaus 1758) is tradionally related to the monkey Cercocebus according to genomic studies. Here extant Mandrill nests with Papio, the baboon, closer to lemurs than to monkeys.
