Super Bowl LIX is tomorrow night, which means we are provided with one last opportunity to profit from the pigskin with the best Super Bowl prop bets (even though it’s not the matchup we envisioned). The game features the back-to-back Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, a rematch of Super Bowl LVII just two years ago. Plenty of star power will be on display, and with plenty of star power comes plenty of opportunity for us. If this go round is anything like the game these teams played two years ago (a 38-35 Chiefs victory) we will be in great shape from a player prop perspective. The divisional round loss the Ravens suffered vs the Bills left a sour taste in our mouths, but especially from a player prop perspective as only one out of the five hit (shoutout Justice Hill). However, a 53-32 total for us on the season is nothing to be ashamed of.
In an attempt to end this season on a high note, here are the props I’ll be taking in the highly anticipated Super Bowl matchup.
Best Super Bowl Prop Bets
Jalen Hurts Anytime TD (-115 ESPN Bet)
What we are betting on here is the Eagles pushing the ball within the two-yard line at any point in this game. The controversial ‘Tush Push’ or ‘Brotherly Shove’ has proven to be a historically efficient way for the Eagles to convert at the goal line. Everyone knows it’s coming, but nobody can stop it. Coming off an NFC Championship game where he scored three touchdowns, -115 is great value here, especially considering Hurts also had three rushing touchdowns when these two teams met in Super Bowl LVII two years ago.
Saquon Barkley Over 109.5 Rushing Yards (-110 ESPN Bet)
Like the prop above, taking this here is another case of just not overthinking it. This has been the postseason run of the now Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. Barkley has averaged 147.3 yards per game on a whopping 6.9 yards per carry this postseason, and even though the Chiefs boast a stout rushing defense, it would feel unwise to not roll with Barkley here as he looks to top off his historic season in classic Saquon fashion.
Patrick Mahomes Over 28.5 Rushing Yards (-110 ESPN Bet)
There will come a time late in this game where Patrick Mahomes will have to put his superhero cape on and will the Chiefs down the field. When that time comes, we can count on Mahomes to use his legs. In the last two Super Bowls, Mahomes rushed for 44 and 66 yards respectively, and we can’t forget Mahomes was toughing out a high ankle sprain in the Super Bowl matchup two years ago. Per NFL Pro, Mahomes scrambled to run on 6 of his 34 drop backs against the Bills in the AFC Championship, his 2nd-highest scramble rate in a game in his career (17.4%). Long story short, Mahomes isn’t afraid to use his legs in big moments, and if the previous numbers are any indicator, 29 yards is very gettable for the star QB.
Xavier Worthy Over 55.5 Receiving Yards (-110 FanDuel) & Over 5.5 Receptions (+106 FanDuel)
Xavier Worthy has followed the Rashee Rice character arc from last year: start slow and get acclimated, then come playoff time blossom into the team’s Wide Receiver 1. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes collectively run the show for the Chiefs offense, and it’s obvious they now view Worthy as a guy that needs ball in his hands. Since December, Worthy’s target volume has increased by 39% (5 targets per game in Weeks 1-12 compared to 8.3 targets through Weeks 13-NFC Championship). Why? Because the Chiefs are designing their offense to get him the ball. This postseason, Worthy has gone in motion on 33.7% of his snaps, which is up from his 18.2% motion rate in the regular season, and on plays where he has gone in motion, Worthy’s target rate is 42.9%! Think back to the Chiefs offensive machine they’ve built in recent years – it was always Travis Kelce they would deploy in motion to pick and choose their spots. That role now belongs to Worthy, and I anticipate him having a big day because of these factors.
*If you want to take Worthy O 5.5 Rushing Yards as well, I’m all for it. That has covered four out of the last five games he has played.
Jalen Hurts Under 211.5 Passing Yards (-110 FanDuel)
The matchup to watch on this side of the field is the Chiefs 4th ranked rushing defense vs the Eagles 2nd ranked rushing offense. The Eagles 36 rushing attempts propelled them to an NFC Championship record 55 points vs the Commanders, so we can anticipate them having a similar game plan heading into the Super Bowl. Hurts was able to throw for 246 yards in their win, but that was against a struggling Commanders pass defense. In the two playoff games prior to the NFC championship, Hurts averaged just 129.5 passing yards. I’m banking on Hurts passing yards total to be closer to that number against a Chiefs passing defense who held their own in the AFC Championship vs the NFL MVP Josh Allen.
There you have it: our best Super Bowl prop bets. Good luck!
