Chicago White Sox set to call up No. 8 overall prospect: Report

The Chicago White Sox are in the worst stretch of baseball to start the year as they dropped their eighth straight game and lost their second straight series with their 6-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
The series sweep comes with some cost, as the series saw the White Sox lose outfielder Mike Tauchman and catcher Korey Lee, who both went down with injuries and have been placed on the injured list.
Since the White Sox have had all these injuries and have not been playing great baseball, they are finally embracing their youth movement and are calling up one of their prospects to make their Major League Debut.
Chicago White Sox to call up No. 8 prospect in the organization
The White Sox are finally calling up one of their prospects, with Katie Morrison-O’Day reporting that the number eight overall prospect in the White Sox organization, Chase Meidroth, will be getting called up to the big leagues.
“Chase Meidroth is getting called up to the Chicago White Sox, we’re hearing in the WooSox clubhouse”

James Fegen of SoxMachine confirmed this report and added that a 40-man roster spot has to be opened up for Meidroth to get called up.
“Can confirm. White Sox will need to clear another 40-man spot.”

Meidroth’s hot start led to his call-up
Meidroth got off to a hot start to the Triple-A season before coming somewhat back down to earth.
Overall, in his nine games down at Charlotte, the 23-year-old Meidroth has a slash line of .267/.450/.600 for an OPS of 1.050.
Not known as a home run hitter, Meidroth had three in his 30 at-bats (40 plate appearances) and once again has walked more than he’s struck out, walking eight times while striking out five times.

With Meidroth getting the call to the big leagues, this could mark the end for shortstop and middle infielder Jacob Amaya, who has been getting the bulk of the starting reps at short but has struggled to begin the year.
Amaya is hitting .103/.129/.103 for an OPS of .232 in ten games this season.
With the White Sox struggling for offense and continuing to slog through this rebuild, giving Meidroth the runway to see what he can do at the big-league level is necessary for his development and the rebuild.
