Millennials or Generation Y (born roughly 1981-1996) and Gen Z (born roughly 1997-2012) are distinct generations shaped by different technological landscapes, social contexts and economic realities, leading to varying expectations and priorities in areas like work, technology and social issues. Millennials often see themselves as social justice-minded, but may be more focused on individual achievement and status, valuing a work-life balance, seeking opportunities for growth and recognition, often prioritizing career stability.
Up and coming is Generation Alpha or Gen Alpha, the first generation to grow up entirely in the 21st century. This group, encompasses individuals born between 2010 and 2024, with the oldest members now around 14 years old. The term Gen Alpha was coined by social researcher and futurist Mark McCrindle, and they are often the children of Millennials, their older siblings typically members of Generation Z. Gen Alpha is considered the first generation to grow up with the Internet as a constant and is known for being digitally native and adapting to new technology faster than previous generations.
