Chicago Bears: Curious report surfaces on draft prospect Tyler Warren

The Chicago Bears are doing their homework on numerous prospects ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The first round of the draft begins on April 24, so time is quickly running out for teams to meet with players and watch tape before turning in their selections.
The Bears enter the draft with seven total selections, four of which are scheduled in the first 72 picks.
Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is a potential choice for Chicago with the No. 10 pick. The physical pass catcher would be ideal for new head coach Ben Johnson, who worked with All-Pro Sam LaPorta when he was the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.
Curious report surfaces on Tyler Warren
However, a curious report came out on Warren on Sunday.
Per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, Warren has one scheduled visit. The PSU product didn’t participate in the school’s pro day, choosing to schedule private workouts with interested NFL teams.
One team in the top 10 canceled their workout with Warren.
Via a post from Schultz on X:
“Sources: Penn State TE Tyler Warren has just one scheduled visit — rare for a potential top-10 pick — as teams view him as ‘one of the cleanest prospects.’ While Warren’s already had multiple private workouts, one team picking in the top 10 canceled theirs last minute, saying: ‘What are we really getting out of this? We’ve seen enough on him.’
Said one executive: ‘He checks every box — character, toughness, intelligence, and he’s just scratching the surface athletically. There’s not much to overthink.’”

The Chicago Bears scheduled a workout with Warren
Schultz didn’t specify who Warren is meeting with or the team that canceled the scheduled workout. The Bears were one of the few teams that scheduled a private workout with Warren.
It’s curious why NFL executives and scouts would choose not to do more due diligence on a potential first-round pick. Warren could be slipping down draft boards, but he seems like a sure pick.
ESPN‘s Mel Kiper ranked Warren on seventh on his latest “big board,” arguing the six-foot-six, 256-pound prospect has incredible versatility for an NFL offense.
“Warren is super versatile,” Kiper wrote. “He can be used as a traditional in-line tight end, at H-back, at fullback, out of the slot or lined up out wide. He’s a reliable pass catcher, and once the ball is in his hands, he can break free. Warren had 700 yards after the catch this past season.
“He was incredible against USC in October, hauling in 17 catches for 224 yards and a TD. It tied for the most single-game catches by a tight end in FBS history.”
Warren recorded 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024.
