OTL: Ol’ Trusty BPA for Mock Draft Friday
For this week’s Mock Draft Friday, we return to the BPA strategy. I personally think this is one of the finest mocks we have done in a while. If this is the real haul the Ravens come away with, I would have no complaints and give it an easy A+.
What makes it so good, you ask? Well, let’s dive in:
Derrick Harmon is an interesting yin/yang situation to guys like Kenneth Grant in this class. While guys like Grant have that run-stopping ability and big bodies, Harmon is the fast pass rusher that can cause havoc inside. That’s not all he can do though.
Derrick Harmon is my IDL#2 and #20 on my big board (subject to change)
Most pressures by a DT in CFB with 55, 2nd in pressure rate by a DT (10.7%), 5 sacks & 10.5 TFLs.
He does absurd things for a man that size, one of the best motors in the draft. All-around, i’m a big fan. pic.twitter.com/XZemci4bff

His pass-rushing stats speak for themselves, but he is also a good athlete who can stop the run. This is the type of impact the Ravens need from the inside. They have guys who can stop the run but need more juice from the interior on passing downs. A defensive line of Harmon, Mads, and a healthy, contract-year Travis Jones would put the fear of God into opponents.
Morrison was once considered a lock for the first round before some injury issues popped up. This isn’t a torn ACL or some freak injury; this hip injury has some teams worried.
Still, he is an absolute steal in the second round.
Despite a notable hip injury, Benjamin Morrison should still comfortably find himself off the board within the first 2 rounds.
In 3 starting years at Notre Dame he had an allowed passer rating of 44.1, had 12 PBUs and 9 INTs.
He’s lockdown.

Yes, the last time Baltimore took a player with significant injury concerns in the second, it didn’t work out the best, but that doesn’t mean you should never take another risk again. Morrison is the type of player who is well worth the risk.
Stewart is a repeat of our previous mock draft, but he is the pure pass rusher the Ravens need to draft. For far too long, they have prioritized run-stopping and bigger bodies over guys who can rush the passer, and Stewart flips the script.
Billy Bowman is a fun player to talk about. He is a slot corner/safety who plays like his life depends on it:

The problem is that he is only 5 ‘9″ and isn’t the world’s greatest athlete, He reminds me a lot of Ar’Darius Washington, and would basically be the replacement plan for him.
Fairchild and Lundt are veterans of Mock Draft Fridays, but they are just good depth for this late draft. Castro is another hard-hitting box safety who isn’t afraid of anything; Hawes is tight-end depth, just in case they move Mark Andrews. Kiser and Nash are also solid enough players to take late in this Mock. Marks also has good running back depth to round us out.
To me, this was an awesome haul and would be a huge win for EDC. I just love the way the board fell. What did you think?
