Alonso's New Home May Be In Cincy!
The New York Mets are a joke—an absolute embarrassment of a franchise, and billionaire clown Steve Cohen has proven himself to be just as clueless as the Wilpons. This team had a decent, loyal slugger in Pete Alonso, and instead of taking him back, Cohen and Boras are playing footsy, they’ve let things deteriorate to the point where even the idea of bringing him back is laughable. On Monday’s episode of The Mayor’s Office with Sean Casey podcast, Casey and Rich Ciancimino talked about the possibility of Alonso landing in Cincinnati, and Casey made it clear—this move makes total sense. A short-term deal, $80 million over three years, opt-out after year one, Alonso hits 50 bombs, gets his confidence back, and re-enters the market as an absolute monster. Who wouldn’t want that? Terry Francona, if he were still managing, would be salivating at the thought of Alonso in the middle of that Reds lineup.
And now, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Reds might actually do it. And honestly? I hope it happens. I hope Pete Alonso goes to Cincinnati, mashes 50 homers, and makes Cohen watch in agony as another Mets disaster unfolds. The Reds are building something special with Elly De La Cruz and a core of young talent. Alonso would give them a true second star and elevate them into contention. Meanwhile, the Mets? They’ll keep throwing money at problems they created, spinning their wheels with no direction.
Cohen was supposed to be different. He was supposed to be the owner who changed everything. Instead, he’s proving he’s just as incompetent as the Wilpons. Mets fans deserve better—but until they get it, I hope Alonso gets his bag in Cincinnati and shoves it right in Cohen’s smug, billionaire face.
