Thursday night was the NFL Honors show, which means it is now time to come straight with the facts: Lamar Jackson is good:
Lamar Jackson’s goal is to win a Super Bowl, but a third MVP would put him in rare company
From yesterday: MVP will be announced tonight. https://t.co/5GSdOrAJe2— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) February 6, 2025
Despite the tongue-in-check humor, unfortunately, in a shocking upset, there would be no on this night.
There will be no MV3, at least not this year. Josh Allen wins his first NFL MVP award.

This is the part of the article where I complain about how this doesn’t make sense since Lamar Jackson was named first-team All-Pro at quarterback, yet didn’t win the MVP, losing it to another player at the same position. That’s where this is going?
Well, honestly, I don’t care in the end. I don’t need a third MVP to tell me how good Jackson is. Maybe this is just the animosity toward the Ravens I now have leaking over after the millionth early playoff exit. Still, I genuinely don’t have the energy to debate this award. Jackson and Allen were both excellent and carried their respective teams.
And though Torrey has a point here…
It’s extremely rare to be acknowledged for being the best at your position and not win MVP because of someone that plays your position. That is wild.
— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) February 7, 2025
The fact is that I just can’t get myself all worked up about it.
Jackson is one of the greatest quarterbacks who has stepped on the gridiron, and there isn’t much debate about that. Also, a massive shoutout to Todd Monken for putting Lamar in an offense that doesn’t limit him and to the Ravens for keeping Monken around. There are no worries about what this offense can accomplish next year with that stability, and we might see more MVPs to Jackson’s name if this continues. We don’t need a third MVP to know how good Lamar was this year. If you want to debate, go right ahead. There are valid reasons to do so, but I couldn’t care less.
Jackson wasn’t the only snub last night though, as neither Marshal Yanda nor Terrell Suggs will be first-ballot Hall of Famers, and Steve Smith Sr. lost out again in his third year of eligibility.

This is why the Ravens need to get over the hump. Take all these subjective honors out of the hands of others, and state your objective case by winning a Super Bowl.
Speaking of, to take your mind off the Super Bowl that no one outside of two fan bases wants and the MVP debates, here is another exciting edition of Mock Draft Friday:
Let’s get this out of the way: I was shocked Mike Green was available here. There is no way he will be available in real life at 27, and it is nuts that I got him to fall. Weird stuff happens on Draft night, though, and Green is excellent. Don’t let the fact that this guy played at a small school fool you; this man is a machine and would finally give the Ravens a true number one option at edge and a fear factor:

While he is shorter, he has great power to set up offensive tackles for his speed rush, which is his fastball. The only problem is his arm length which could be the reason he falls. Personally, I don’t think it is that big of a deal, considering how he bulked up for the Senior Bowl, but NFL teams can have thresholds that need to be met, which could allow the Ravens to prosper.
While it says OT on Wyatt Milum’s card, he will move inside to play guard for the Ravens. He has good strength and is a good enough athlete; the problem is he over-sets a ton, and we saw him lose more in the 1-on-1 at the Senior Bowl because of it:
Wyatt Milum is projected to be a G in the NFL
While this is not him at G, having a TE next to him simulates how he would perform as a G well enough to get a glimpse at how awesome he can be

With that said, he has all the intangibles to be an awesome Guard in the NFL, and you see it in his core strength and the ability to move people in the run game.
Turner is a weird case because of his pre-draft process. He was awesome in 2023 but played hurt in 2024. That injury has lingered and caused him to not only tap out of the Senior Bowl, but apparently he is only doing interviews at the combine and is only working out at his Pro Day. That makes his evaluation a little tough, but he is still a good run defender and has pass-rush ability. He is definitely a pick for the future. Belton is actually similar to Milum, but I think Belton is going to stick at Tackle before Milum so he gets taken as a tackle instead. Jordan Phillips is becoming a mainstay on these Mock Drafts, but I can’t help it. He is always available. He is only 20 and the type of talent you bet on late. Justin Walley really reminds me of former Raven Tavon Young. He is a demon from the Nickel and while he doesn’t have the physical ability to play outside, he can be a baller from Slot/Nickel. Frazier and Mondon are good depth at their position. We got another Maryland player with Trader, and Nash and Oladejo are also good depth.
One critique I have is that I wish I had chosen a full-time Tackle in this draft. While I personally believe Belton can do it, I do wish we didn’t have that worry in this version of both of my tackles ending up being better guards.
