Chicago White Sox’s No. 8 overall prospect strong series against the Red Sox
The Chicago White Sox won their first series of the year, beating the Boston Red Sox two games to one and outscored the Red Sox 15 to six.
The series also featured two exciting storylines, one being the return of former White Sox star left-hander Garrett Crochet and the other being the debut of the White Sox’s eighth overall prospect Chase Meidroth.
An ironic moment happened between Crochet and Meidroth in game three of the series, where Crochet had a no-hitter rolling into the eighth inning, and Meidroth broke up the no-hit bid for Crochet with a single to leftfield.
The irony is that Meidroth was one of the prospects sent in return for Crochet, and in Crochet’s first start back in Chicago since being traded, nobody other than Chase would break up Crochet’s chances at history.
What a series for the Chicago White Sox’s young prospect!
Meidroth made quite the first impression in his first-ever action up in the big leagues. During his debut, Meidrothwent 3-7 (.429), with a .600 on-base percentage, while scoring three runs and walking three times.

A strong showing from Meidroth
Meidroth received a call to the big leagues after getting off to a hot start at Triple-A Charlotte, where he slashed .267/.450/.600 for an OPS of 1.050 in nine games.
Meidroth could have, and more importantly, should have made the White Sox Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he didn’t hit well enough to do so.
In 41 at-bats (50 plate appearances), Meidroth hit .146/.300/.171. The best part of his showing in spring was his almost 1:1 ratio for walks (9) to strikeouts (10). Walking and getting on base are the names of Meidroth’s game, and the White Sox need this skill set.
With the White Sox struggling to score runs and accrue baserunners, having Meidroth getting on for the run producers (those have yet to be found) to drive him in will be key to winning more ballgames.
The White Sox will need Meidroth’s on-base skills to continue as the Athletics come to town for a three-game series. Sean Burke will be taking the bump for the Sox, while Jeffery Springs opposes them for the A’s.
