Chicago Bears will get offensive line help through the draft according to two major draft analysts

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have great draft capital to operate with when April rolls around. The team holds three picks in the first two rounds and the offensive line could see a lot of attention with those selections. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked a league-high 68 times in 2024 and the offensive line will be retooled largely because of that.

Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright are the only two individuals up front who will return to the organization in 2025. Chicago needing to bring in more linemen than they are losing is not an easy task, and they will have to be all over the market to replace what they are losing. The Chicago Bears have nearly $70 million in cap space to work with will certainly help in these efforts, but many analysts believe that they should use their first round pick on a lineman.

Mel Kiper Jr. has Will Campbell joining the Chicago Bears

Campbell has been linked to the Bears frequently over the past few months, but having a draft expert like Kiper have him in Chicago as well is an interesting sign. There are concerns about Campbell and his long term projection as a tackle at the NFL level. However, his numbers and tape speak for themselves and he proved to be a consistent anchor throughout his time in college which makes him a slam dunk first round pick in this year’s draft.

With Campbell’s position on the line in the NFL potentially being up in the air, the Bears could make for a perfect landing spot for his services. With both lineman returning to Chicago being tackles, the pressure would be off Campbell to succeed on the outside right away. There would likely be a battle in camp between him and Jones to see who would make the better left tackle entering 2025, but him losing that would not be the end of the world for the Bears whatsoever.

Chicago’s needs on the offensive line mostly sit on the interior. That shouldn’t stop them from grabbing the best overall talent available to them and worrying about the positional side of things later. Protecting Williams as he prepares for his second season in the league is the ultimate top priority, and Campbell would be a big help in those efforts no matter where he plays.

Tyler Booker fits the Chicago Bears in Daniel Jeremiah’s eyes

Booker is slowly moving up draft boards and is now extremely unlikely to be around when the Chicago Bears are on the clock with either of their picks in the second round. Jeremiah has the Alabama product ranked in the top-15 of the entire draft, which could lead to him being essentially locked into the first round.

If the Bears want to stay fully committed to their two tackles on the roster and strictly go after interior-first lineman, they could trade down in the first round to snag Booker while collecting extra draft capital in the process.

With Chicago potentially being the market for star guard Trey Smith in free agency, a duo of him and Booker in the trenches for the Bears would be a fantastic sight to see. If that is the course of action that Ryan Poles and the front office choose to pursue, they will be just a center away from having their line ready to roll for 2025.
